Spectra MetaVaults are curated vaults that automatically roll deposits across Spectra’s fixed-rate markets. At the August 14, 2026 survey, they held $7.7M across 4 pools on Base, Flare, and Katana, far below our size floor. An advised position at that size would make up a meaningful share of the venue, creating its own exit risk. We reject MetaVaults on size. One practice advising 100 households can move $1M to $8M into a venue based on the same research. At this size, that book could overwhelm exits. If the product clears the floor and stays there, we will open the individual review of curation and rollover choices.

The research file

Applicability to the surveyed record

Spectra describes MetaVaults as managed yield vaults that hold positions across markets and chains. Permissioned curators choose how to allocate deposits and automatically roll maturing fixed-term positions. Depositors receive managed exposure instead of direct control over the underlying PT, YT, or LP positions. These facts establish the identity of the surveyed product.

Current observation and perimeter

The DefiLlama protocol API reading on 2026-08-15 classified Spectra MetaVaults as an Onchain Capital Allocator and showed approximately $7.67M TVL. It reported active balances on Base, Flare, and Katana and zero balances on its other listed chains. That remains far below the shared v1 size floor. The live Spectra app separately displayed three current curated vaults across those active chains.

Control and exit applicability

A Safe multisig owns each MetaVault. Curators with limited permissions allocate and bridge liquidity, guardians can cancel delayed actions, accountants settle share value and epochs, and owners can pause user operations. Under the ERC-7540 asynchronous deposit and redemption model, settlement occurs by epoch. Curators must prepare enough underlying assets for redemptions, so settlement work and liquidity in the underlying markets both affect how much users can exit.

Why the class rule decides

The shared v1 size rule decides because total surveyed TVL remains below the size floor despite live vaults and documented safeguards. The individual review stays closed until DefiLlama TVL clears the floor for 30 consecutive days. Then review each curator and strategy, Safe and Zodiac permissions, accounting and oracle controls, cross-chain and underlying-market dependencies, audits and incidents, epoch settlement history, available liquidity, stressed exits, and named allocator alternatives.

Research status

This is a capacity-unproven record for Spectra MetaVaults, not a quality rejection or approval. Reported TVL says how big the venue is, not what the client owns, who can change the rules, or how a position exits at a proposed size. The individual review opens when the protocol clears the size floor.

Sources

The claims above trace to these. Where a number could not be independently verified, the thesis says so.

Inherited controls

The research above describes the protocol layer. Every position also inherits the asset it holds and the chain it settles on. The layer with the most administrative power sets the position’s effective control; that describes control, not quality or suitability.

FlareApproved with limits Governed, no freeze consensus entry is permissionless, but the Foundation monopolizes governance proposals and manually executes some approved changes.
